Hatha is a general term that can encompass any of the physical kinds of yoga. Hatha is a slow paced and gentle way of practicing. Hatha is of great importance because it provides an introduction to the basic yoga poses.


Vinyasa describes many different types of classes. It tends to be a more vigorous style based on the performance of a series of poses, in which movement is matched to the breath


It combines a strong emphasis on physical alignment.


It emphasizes on breath in conjunction with physical movements in order to free energy in the lower body and allowing it to move upwards. All asana practices make use of controlling breath but in kundalini the exploration of effects of the breath on the postures is important.


It is a fast paced, intense flowing style of yoga. This style is very physically demanding because of the constant movement from pose to another and the emphasis on daily practice.

Hot yoga

It is also known as bikram. This type of yoga is done in a room heated to 95-100 degrees.

The heat allows loosening of tight muscles and profuse sweating. The bikram method is a set series of 26 poses,bit not all of them are done.


In this style it is all about bringing the body on its best possible alignment, often using props like blankets and straps for assistance.

Iyengar practice usually emphasizes holding poses over a longer period of time instead of moving quickly from one pose to another.


It is a yoga practice with emphasis of meditation, a compassionate approach, physical healing and spiritual transformation.

It also focuses on looking inward moving at your own pace, making it a good practice for people limited with mobility due to weight, or injury.


This is the performance of vigorous asana sequences.Its main benefits are to strenghten and to purify the body and release pain and emotions to encourage healing of physical and emotional wounds.It involves intense workout with emphasis on abdominal strenghtening and deep breathing.


It is a gentle hatha style of yoga.It integrates the body,mind and soul.


It makes use of props to support the body as it relaxes into poses over several minutes.You have to stay long enough in each pose to encourage passive stretching.Types of restorative poses are seated forward bends and twists.
